Raptors Tally Eight Shots On Goal

The Bard men's soccer team (6-10-1, 0-8-1 Liberty League) fell to Skidmore (4-3-6, 5-2-2 Liberty League) on Saturday at Wachenheim Field.

Five different Raptors challenged the Thoroughbred goalkeeper with shots on goal, marking Bard's highest number of scoring opportunities this season against a conference opponent.

In the 9th minute, Dylan Kotlowitz boomed a shot from past the 18 forcing Will Devall's first save of the match. At the 16:31 mark, Connor Mansfield scored his team's only goal off an assist by Gavin Wheeler. Bard prevented any more shots for the rest of the half, maneuvering around the Skidmore cohort. With just over ten minutes to play, Emmett Olson used his powerful left foot to take a shot from long distance, making Devall use his entire wingspan to tip the ball over the frame. Robbie Boyd had a run at the goal five minutes later, sliding a shot past a falling defender but not past Devall's left foot.

The Raptors led in the shot department 4-2 despite being down in the first half.

The early stages of the second half brought a few shots that didn't require any spectacular plays from Devall. However, with under nine minutes remaining and the game still hanging in the balance, Olson sent a beautiful pass across the field, where Henry Skeltis headed it on goal. Devall had to react and laid out for the save. Kotlowitz and Betelu also had point-blank opportunities but couldn't cash in.

Julian Landau had one save, coming in the second half.

The Raptors complete their season with 12 different players scoring goals. Frankie Pereira-Modica led the team in points, with five. Julian Landau finished his season with  33 saves, while Will Beane-Rosenberg collected 26.
