The Bard College men's soccer team (5-7-1, 0-5-1 Liberty League) played hard against Clarkson (6-1-6, 2-1-3 Liberty League) in another Liberty League conference match on Friday at 4:00pm at Hantz Field. The Raptors improved on their performance from a season ago, a match in which they allowed two goals.
The Golden Knights struck first and fast, with the first goal coming within the first 5 minutes. The Raptors attempted to retaliate with a close miss coming from
Sam Gerber 3 minutes after. The attempt to change the tide wasn't enough, and the Raptors were forced to play an outstanding defensive game. The half ended with an amazing defensive display from Bard's defensive line, an outstanding save from goalkeeper
Julian Landau, and an equalizing attempt from
Ben Steketee The Golden Knights went into the second half still holding a 1-0 lead but unable to figure out the Raptors defensive strategy.
The second half mirrored the end of the first, with it being an extremely hard fought match and an exquisite defensive display from Bard. They ended the half with two more shots coming from
James Bird and
Zach Burmeister.
Bard fired off 4 shots today and
Julian Landau totaled 2 saves.
Bard will be back in action tomorrow, October 19th, at 1:00pm to take on the Saints of St.Lawrence at the Sandy MacAllaster Field.
