Eight seconds after checking into his first game donning a Raptor jersey,
Devin James found the back of the net. With 15 minutes remaining in the game,
Ben Steketee received the ball in the box, skillfully heading it to himself a couple of times before spinning 180 degrees and threading it between Baker Diaz and George Charalambous to find a wide-open James. The goal scorer saw Eric Edmonds ball-watching, so he cut to the open right side of the net, where he sent it through.
Bard (5-8-1, 0-6-1 Liberty League) fell to St. Lawrence despite the late-game heroics from the newcomer. St. Lawrence (6-2-4, 3-0-3 Liberty League) has not lost since dropping its first two games of the season.
Eric Edmonds scored off of assists from Sam Pijpers and Max Mogul just 1:19 into the game. The Raptors had four shots in the first half, three of which came in a four-minute stretch that started at the 39th minute. Unfortunately, the Saints scored their second goal at the 41:52 mark when Sam Pijpers spun the ball into the top right corner of the net off of a free kick.
Will Beane-Rosenberg made two saves to keep the deficit at two going into halftime.
After the break, the Saints retained possession and added two more goals. The third one was set up by Kyle Reddish, who was positioned on the edge of the Raptor box when he managed to keep the ball in play with a pass back to Henry Brown, who drove the ball into the net.
The Raptors have scored against the Saints in three of the past four years. Their four goals during this time are the most against St. Lawrence in a four year stretch in program history.
Zac Sparacio and
Emmett Olson led the team in minutes, with 67.
Kincade Avery had his first two collegiate saves, while Beane-Rosenberg had five, tying a career-high set against RPI.
The Raptors will be back at home when they recognize their seniors in their last home game next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Hobart.
