The Bard College men's basketball team could not stop a second-half surge by Union, falling 78-69 on Tuesday night and splitting the season series against the Garnet Chargers.
Bard (8-5, 3-3 Liberty League) found itself trailing for nearly all of the second half after entering halftime with a four-point lead at 33-29. Union (7-5, 2-4) went on an 8-2 run early in the second half and held the lead for the rest of the game and earned its second conference win.
Junior
Sean Wilcox led the Raptors with a career-high 19 points and went a career-high 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Wilcox added four rebounds, three blocks, a steal and made only one turnover. Seniors
Lazaros Panagiotounis and
Cory Dennis each had 10 points and five rebounds. Dennis had a career-high and team-high four steals and tied his career-high of five rebounds. Panagiotounis dished out two assists and a steal.
Senior
Rowan Heinze had his fifth consecutive game with double-digit points with 18. He shot 6-of-7 from the field, dished two assists, and had a rebound. Fellow senior Azriel Amodovar had a team-high four assists, while
Elliot Harris added six points, two assists, a steal, and a rebound.
Bard outshot Union from the field 47.6% to 41.1%, but Union's 30 rebounds and 20 points off the Raptors 19 turnovers helped seal the victory.
The Raptors will head to Hobart on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
