POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Bard men's track team competed at Vassar's Twilight Open on Friday night, and among several strong performances was a school record from first-year
Clemente Esponilla in the 5000m.
Esponilla ran a 16:02.27, taking almost 25 seconds off the mark set by Christian Letourneau in 2012.
Jack Keelan continued to show his range, leading Bard in both the 200m, where he took second place, and the 1500m, where he was 12th.
CeDaniel Sumpter was just behind Keelan in the 200m and earned 5th place, and he also took 4th in the 400m.
Graeme Lauterbach-Mason and
Bo Hopwood continued to push each other in the 800m, both setting big PRs and showing that there may be more to come.
Reed Campbell and
Nic Soucy ran strongly in the 1500m, Hosam Jawabra was Bard's third finisher in the 200m.
Bard will travel to Cortland next weekend as the team works toward the Liberty League Championship in early May in Rochester.
