Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Bard men's tennis team played a thriller with Western Connecticut State on Thursday afternoon, with the visitors earning a 5-4 victory.
Bard led 2-1 after the doubles matches, with the #2 duo of
Kai O'Donnell and
Thanasis Kostikas earning an 8-2 win and the #1 pair of
Noah Gulla and
Drew Soleiman winning 8-3.
In singles play, Gulla won 6-1, 6-3, but West Conn was able to earn victories at the #2 through #5 spots to earn the win, including a dramatic victory at #5, which came in a tiebreak.
At #6 singles,
Augustin Johnson won his match 10-6 in a tiebreak after splitting the first two sets 3-6 and 6-3.
The next three matches for the Raptors all come in the next week and are in Liberty League play. The team travels to face RPI on Friday and St. Lawrence on Sunday before returning home to host Skidmore on Tuesday.
