CHESTER, Penn. – The Bard men's track team had an outstanding day at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Saturday.
In addition a pair school records by
Jack Keelan, who improved on his own marks in both the 200m and 400m, the Raptors set PRs throughout the roster in an excellent day for the whole team.
"Today was the most productive meet this men's team has had since I arrived at Bard," said coach Billy Poole-Harris. "The team ran fast, hard, and with grit, and overcame adversity. Every single member of the team ran a lifetime best or PR, and they also took something meaningful away from their performance that will help in the next race. This meet showed us a glimpse of what our identity will be in the future."
Keelan took two hundredths off his previous mark in the 200m to set the school best at 23.29, but he shaved almost a full second off his 400m time, lowering it to 49.63 from 50.56.
Every member of the team showed improvement and set PRs, ranging from Hosam Jawabra in the 100m,
Nic Soucy and Jawabra in the 200m,
Reed Campbell and Soucy in the 800m, and
Graeme Lauterbach-Mason and
Bo Hopwood in the 1500m. Lauterbach-Mason dropped 10 seconds off his PR in the event, and Hopwood shaved eight seconds off his previous best.
The Raptors will be back in action with another opportunity to make improvements on Friday evening at Vassar's Twilight Open meet in Poughkeepsie.
