Raptors open Liberty League play against Skidmore

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Raptors sophomore Maggy Peyton had a pair of goals as Bard played its first Liberty League game of the season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 23-4 result to Skidmore at Ferrari Field.

Peyton had Bard's first two goals, and the Raptors also had goals from Sarah Child and Lily Clough, and assists from Child, Gloria Tucker, and Izzi Popolizio.

A highlight on the other end of the field was the team's defensive presence, forcing multiple turnovers and improving throughout the course of the game against a strong Thoroughbreds team.

"As a team we showed great defensive energy and awareness, and getting good slides and communication from our whole defensive unit," said Bard coach Mike Galantich. "It's great to see improvement from game to game, and even within each game. Every day is an opportunity to get better and the team is working hard."

Lexie Blackburn continued her strong play in the Bard net, with six saves in the game, including four in the first quarter. Martha Pasatiempo came on in the fourth quarter and made one save in 15 minutes of play.

The Raptors will start their spring break trip with a game at Chatham in Pittsburgh on Tuesday before playing at the University of Rochester and RIT next weekend.
