Peyton, Child, Popolizio pace offense as Raptors start road trip

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – The Bard women's lacrosse team mounted a late comeback attempt but ended up on the wrong side of a 17-12 result against Chatham University on Tuesday evening.

Chatham jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the game, but the Raptors fought back and were down just two at 7-5 going into halftime. A strong third quarter put the Cougars ahead and despite Bard scoring the final three goals of the game, the hosts held on for the win.

Maggy Peyton had five goals and an assist, and Sarah Child and Izzi Popolizio each had five points to lead the offense. Lily Clough added a pair of goals, and Paige Gregg was active in all areas of the game, notching an assist, gathering three ground balls, and collecting three draw controls.

Lexie Blackburn continued her strong play in net for the Raptors with 12 saves, helping anchor a strong defensive effort from the team.

The game was the first in a three-game road trip, with the team squaring off against the University of Rochester on Friday and RIT on Saturday.
