Lily Clough had two points each and first-year goalie
Lexie Blackburn had nine saves as the Raptors were topped by the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday evening at Ferrari Field.
It was Bard's second game in three days and the visitors ran out with a 15-5 win in cold and rainy conditions. The Raptors will return to action quickly, traveling to Hartwick on Wednesday.
"It wasn't the outcome that we wanted, but we are continuing to make good progress," said Bard coach
Mike Galantich. "I'm proud of how we stayed together and did not quit. We'll continue to move forward one step at a time, and games like this give us a chance to learn. We'll take lessons from this one and keep getting better together."
Peyton had two of Bard's goals, and Clough added a goal and an assist. Bard also got goals from
Sarah Child and
Izzi Popolizio. Blackburn continued to anchor the Bard defense and the whole group came up strong late in the game, outscoring the visitors 3-0 in the fourth quarter.
Following Wednesday's game at Hartwick, the Raptors return home on Saturday for their Liberty League opener against Skidmore College.
