ITHACA, N.Y. – The Bard women's swimming team enjoyed a number of great performances on the final day of the Liberty League Championships.
"This was an amazingly successful week for our swim team," said Bard coach
John Weitz. "It seemed as though every time someone swam, they just chopped chunks of time off their previous bests. But what stood out was how much fun they were having competing and supporting each other. This team really came together at the right time to have a great meet."
On Saturday, four Raptors dropped time off their personal bests in the 100-freestyle;
Julia Pelletier took off four seconds,
Una Winn beat her mark by two seconds,
Sophie Levy shaved five seconds, and
Yolanda Liu took off three seconds.
In the 200-breaststroke,
Roma Taitwood was ten seconds better than her previous mark, and
Juliette Zicot bettered her time by six seconds.
Over the course of the four-day meet, several school records fell, and many new personal bests were set. Bard also scored more points than in last year's event.
The hosts from Ithaca College were crowned Liberty League Champions, followed closely by Vassar and RPI.
