ITHACA, N.Y. – A great performance from
Paul de Tournemire highlighted the final day of the Liberty League Championships for the Bard men's swimming team.
The junior from Brooklyn dropped an impressive 18 seconds off his personal best time in the 200-breaststroke and qualified for finals, and finished 21st.
"Today belonged to Paul," said Bard coach
John Weitz. "He joined us last year with no competitive experience and today he showed the results of all his hard work. This sport is measured in hundredths of a second for a reason: improvement usually comes in small bites. Today Paul ate the whole buffet."
Freddy Coronel also had an impressive Saturday, taking two seconds off his personal best in the 100-freestyle.
Over the four-day Championship meet, several Bard swimmers had personal bests, and the team ultimately finished in 9th place of the ten participating schools with 138 points. RIT won the event, just ahead of the hosts from Ithaca.
