The Bard College women's basketball team dropped the opener of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Invitational against Mount Saint Vincent, 72-33, on Saturday afternoon at Cougars Cave.
Bard (2-2) was led by junior
Maggy Peyton with 12 points and eight rebounds. Peyton added two blocks and an assist. First-year
Jessica Martin had eight points while fellow first-year
Ella Perreault had a team-high 10 rebounds. First-year
Lexi Miller had seven rebounds and added a team-high three assists.
Mount Saint Vincent (2-1) had three players in double-digit points, and scored 30 points off the Raptors turnovers. The Raptors struggled to get things going offensively after the first quarter, with the Dophins holding the Raptors to single digits.
Bard will conclude the invitational tomorrow at noon, as they wait for the loser of the Medgar Evers vs. Pratt Institute game.
Update (11/25/23 at 9:25 pm): Bard will not compete against Pratt Institute (the loser of the Medgar Evers/Pratt Institute game) tomorrow and will be back in action on Friday at 5:30 p.m, when they host RIT for their conference opener.
