RECAP: Women’s Basketball falls to FDU-Florham

Dong leads Raptors with 17 points

The Bard College women's basketball team dropped its Tuesday night matchup at FDU-Florham, 75-51, at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

The Raptors (2-1) were led by Shirley Dong, who totaled 17 points, her second 10+ point-game of the season. The sophomore shot 7-of-15 from the field while adding three assists and two boards. Senior Mae Redmond shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and had an assist, a steal, and a rebound.

First-year Lexi Miller had a team-high nine boards and added three assists and five points. Fellow first-year Ella Perreault added five rebounds and three points, while junior Maggy Peyton had five points and three rebounds.

The first quarter went back-and-forth, with both teams shooting above 57 percent from the field, and the Raptors were 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, compared to the Devil's 3-of-7. FDU-Florham (2-3) took control in the second quarter, scoring 17 points and building a 20-point lead by halftime. The Raptors outscored the Devils in the fourth quarter 18-9 but it was not enough to complete a comeback.

FDU-Florham was led by their leading scorer Neysa Aguilar, who scored 24 points.

Bard will have a quick break for Thanksgiving before traveling to Medgar Evers for the Dr. Betty Shabazz Invitational, starting on Saturday when the Raptors will face Mount Saint Vincent at noon.
