ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The Bard College men's soccer team battled Clarkson early, but came up short in a Liberty League match-up on Friday afternoon, with the Golden Knights winning 2-0.
Bard (5-4-2, 0-4-2 Liberty League) controlled the ball on both sides of the field, only to later find themselves down 1-0 by a Clarkson (3-3-0) shot that deflected in the far post and into the back of the net. The Raptors had an opportunity to tie the game after a free kick shot by
Emmett Olson that was saved by Clarkson's goalkeeper, Josh Morelli. Clarkson's attempt to double their lead with a shot coming from Zach Shufelt was unsuccessful with Bard goalkeeper
Gavin Hersey coming away with his first save to end the half.
The Raptors continued their scoring efforts in the second half by advancing the ball and receiving a shot from
Pablo Ortega, but the Golden Knights scored their second goal in the 84th minute to seal the game.
Gavin Hersey finished the game with three saves for the Raptors. Clarkson had the advantage in shots on goal (4-1) and in corners (3-2).
Bard will look to bounce back tomorrow when the team hosts St.Lawrence University for their Youth Soccer Day at 2 P.M. on Ferrari Field .
