Vassar holds off Bard in Raptors' final home game

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to Vassar College, 14-7, in a Liberty League game on Wednesday night.

It was the final home game for Roxanne Rouskas, Rachael Yoder, Gillian Adkins and Emma Heffron. That group led an effort that threw a scare into the Brewers, especially when Bard cut an 8-3 deficit to 8-6 with just over five minutes left in the third quarter.

"In the seniors' final home game, they all contributed," Bard coach Rachel Vallarelli said. "I'm proud of the effort the team showed. We played tough and stood tall."

Adkins finished with three goals; Yoder had a goal, eight draw controls and four ground balls; Heffron collected three ground balls and forced two turnovers; Rouskas made seven saves and collected two ground balls herself. Sarah Child scored twice and Izzi Popolizio added a single goal for Bard.

"We will keep working and growing for our final two games of the season, and beyond," Vallarelli said.

Bard next plays at Clarkson on Saturday.
