ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team swept Sage College, 3-0, in a non-league match on Friday night.
It was Senior Night for
Oliver Allen,
Jingzai Li,
Radoslav Skular and
Josh Kim. A pregame ceremony honored them, and between the second and third sets, the team stood arm in arm as volleyball coach
Adam Niemczynowicz, who is a native of Poland, and men's soccer coach
TJ Kostecky, who is Ukrainian, held the Unkrainian flag while the Ukrainian National Anthem was played. Bard players tied fabric in Ukraine's colors - yellow and blue - onto their jerseys, arms, legs and ankles.
"It was a perfect night," Niemczynowicz said. "Our team really showed up to send our seniors off the right way. And the entire team came together about what's going on the world. It was unbelievable to see the support and unity that we have here."
As for the match itself, Bard won 25-16, 26-24 and 25-16.
Angel Obergh had 12 kills and hit .421,
Ty McGlynn added 11 kills, and
Josh Kim had 28 assists and six digs.
"I'm excited to see what our last three matches of the season hold in store for us," Niemczynowicz said.
Bard next plays a non-league game at Purchase College on Tuesday night.
