SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to Skidmore College, 19-9, in the Liberty League opener for both schools on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first conference game for Bard in 1,065 days. Bard trailed, 7-6, at halftime.
"I'm proud of the fight and grit that we played with today," Bard coach
Rachel Vallarelli said. "We played a great first half, and it was a back and forth game at that point. We let the game get away from us a bit in the third quarter and Skidmore ran away with it."
Rachel Yoder led Bard with three goals, three assists, six draw controls, seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. First year
Izzi Popolizio scored three times, while the Raptors got single goals from
Sarah Child,
Gillian Adkins and
Lily Clough.
Roxanne Rouskas made 15 saves.
"I'm excited to see our continued growth as a team as the season progresses," Vallarelli said.
Bard will next play at Bryn Mawr in a non-league game on Wednesday.
