Raptors celebrate trio of stellar student-athletes on Senior Day

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to William Smith College, 94-36, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

It was Senior Day for a trio of committed, superb student-athletes, all qualifiers for the Liberty League All-Academic Team in every year they were eligible. Friends, family, teammates and fans honored Noabriali Alphonso-Gibbs, Olivia Couture and Christina Kiser.

"We fought hard and playing back to back is tough for us," Bard assistant coach Armando Dunn said. "William Smith is well coached and super physical, but we battled with them. I am proud of the adjustments we made and super proud of our seniors."

Kiser scored 21 points, Couture had 13 points and six rebounds, and Alphonso-Gibbs chipped in with three rebounds and a blocked shot. Mae Redmond had two points, three rebounds and two steals.

"They are setting an amazing example that you can be a great athlete and stellar students/community members," Dunn said. "The imprint they have on our program will last forever. We still have some games to go and I am excited about the growth we have made this season."

In a makeup game on Tuesday, Bard will face William Smith again, but in Geneva, N.Y., this time. And while Saturday was Senior Day, a recently rescheduled postponement means that Bard's final home game will be on Feb. 23 against Mount Holyoke.
