CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to St. Lawrence University, 3-2, in a Liberty League game on Friday.
St. Lawrence led 2-0 at halftime, then went up 3-0 in the second minute of the second half. Bard got one back just a few minutes later, then made it tense down the stretch.
A long free kick was played from midfield into the box, and first year
Isaiah Ortiz was the first get his head on it. The ball popped up and toward goal, and first year
Ben Steketee got his head on it before the St. Lawrence keeper could to cut the lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute. Later in the half, Steketee got another opportunity on a free kick that was saved.
In the 86th minute, the game got a lot tighter when another long ball played into the box ended up on the foot of Bard captain
Nick Agugliaro. His shot was saved, but
Robbie Boyd poked in the rebound at the far post to make it 3-2.
Walker Schwabauer made seven saves for the Raptors, who next take on Clarkson in Potsdam on Saturday afternoon.
