ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team defeated SUNY Delhi, 1-0, in a non-league game on Thursday night.
The lone goal of the game was produced by three substitutes.
Logan Tondini collected a loose ball at midfield, got it to
Nic Soucy down the wing, and his cross was volleyed by
Zach Burmeister just inside the far post with just a few minutes left before halftime.
SUNY Delhi pushed forward in the second half but the Raptors held them off.
"It was an opportunity for us to demonstrate what kind of depth we have," Bard coach
TJ Kostecky said. "The winning goal came out of it."
Gavin Hersey made three saves for Bard.
"They sent a lot of players forward and we dealt with a lot of pressure," Kostecky said. "But we didn't break. It's not like Gavin had to make any heroic saves. And I like how we managed the end of the game, using the corners and shielding the ball."
Up next for Bard is a non-league game against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at home on Saturday at 5:30.
