ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team fell in two matches Sunday afternoon, coming up short against Baruch College and Regis College at the Stevenson Athletic Center.
The Raptors (1-8) started things off against Baruch. The Bearcats (5-4) recovered from an early deficit and were able to draw the first set even at eight. Despite two kills from both junior

Tristan Kozul, the visitors were able to roll off 10 of 11 points to pull away, and took the first set 25-13.

Baruch picked up where they left off in the second set, jumping out to an 8-2 lead. Artem Zinkin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the way with four kills during the set, and the Bearcats cruised to a 25-11 victory to go up 2-0 in the match.

The visitors kept up the offensive attack in the third, winning 11 of the first 13 points. They closed out the set with an 8-1 run, earning a 25-8 win in set three to come away with a 3-0 victory over the Raptors.

Kozul led Bard in the first match with four kills, while senior
Esteban Rivera added 11 assists. Junior
Colin Schroeder had 10 digs, matching his season high.

The Raptors then faced off with Regis College in the afternoon match. After Bard got out to an early lead, the Pride (2-6) took seven straight points to build a comfortable lead. Bard was able to climb back into the set following a pair of kills from Kozul and freshman
Angel Obergh, but Regis was able to hold off the Raptors for a 25-20 win.

The second set featured plenty of back-and-forth with neither team able to separate itself from the other. It took several extra points for the second set to be decided, but despite four kills from Kozul and three from Obergh in the set, the Pride were eventually able to close things out with a 32-30 victory to take a two set lead.

Bard was never able to recover following the close loss in the second, as Regis picked up an 8-2 lead in the third and never looked back, coming away with a 25-13 win to close out the match. Gueincy Clodomir (Pembroke Park, Fla.) led all players with 12 kills during the match, and Brendan Lam (Rockville, Md.) finished with 28 assists for the visitors.

Kozul had another strong match for the Raptors, finishing with seven kills, 12 assists and six digs. Obergh picked up six kills and five digs, while Rivera had eight assists and four kills.

The Raptors continue their homestand Tuesday, Feb. 11, when they host John Jay College at 6:00 p.m.
