Raptors fall to Ithaca on final day of season

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team finished off their 2019-20 season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 102-64 decision to Ithaca College on the road.

Freshman guard Kevin Le got off to a strong start for the Raptors (0-24, 0-18 LL), hitting a pair of early baskets. Classmate Tyler Bruns then followed up with a pair of layups as Bard hung close with Ithaca (20-5, 15-3 LL) in the first half. With the Raptors trailing just past the midway point of the first half, the team looked to the three point shot to close the gap. Sophomore forward Stamatis Koulouris and freshman guard Andres Pacheco both made a pair of baskets from beyond the arc, and freshman guard Stefanos Psarras followed up with two threes of his own to tie the game at 28 with six minutes remaining in the first.

The Bombers were then able to create separation before halftime, as Alex Barron (Wellesley, Mass.) scored six straight points for Ithaca. Following a late three pointer and a pair of baskets, the home team took a 44-33 lead into the intermission.

Ithaca was able to continue their momentum into the second half, as the Bombers hit a pair of threes in the opening minutes. The home team charged to a 19-4 run coming out of the break, including six points from Riley Thompson (Newtown, Pa.), who led all scorers with 15 points on the day. Bard was never able to recover, as Ithaca led a balanced attack throughout with 13 players getting on the scoreboard. The second ranked team in the conference put up 58 second half points, pulling away in the final 20 minutes en-route to an impressive victory.

Psarras and Bruns led the Raptors with 14 points, with Psarras adding six rebounds. Le provided 13 points, four assists and three rebounds, and Koulouris finished the day with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bard men's basketball team will return to the court in the fall of 2020.
