CANTON, N.Y. - The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team jumped out to a big early lead and went on to defeat Bard College, 81-44, in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
The Saints were up 10 after one quarter (20-10), ahead by 21 at halftime, and up by 36 after shooting 73 percent from the floor in the third quarter.
Ava McCann (Binghamton, NY) led St. Lawrence with 21 points in 21 minutes, shooting 7-of-9 from the field. Olivia Barringer (Voorheesville, NY) added 15 points and nine rebounds, and Katie Frederick (Sunapee, NH) contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. St. Lawrence is 9-2 in the Liberty League, 13-5 overall.
Bard (5-13, 0-11) got 13 points, four rebounds and two assists from
Katie Esposito.
Olivia Couture added 12 points and seven rebounds, and
Jess Rylander was busy, producing nine points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.
