SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Skidmore College, 65-49, in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
The hosts jumped out to a 10-0 lead, then shot 69 percent from the field in the second quarter to build a 33-16 halftime lead. The deficit got as big as 32 before Bard outscored Skidmore 20-6 in the fourth quarter.
Skidmore's 6-foot-2 senior center, Lily Berg (Smyrna, NY) dominated the first half, scoring 13 of her 15 points and grabbing eight rebounds in 18 minutes. The Thoroughbreds outrebounded Bard in the game, 53-29, and produced 22 assists. Jessica Centore (Milford, CT) added 10 points, four rebounds and nine assists for Skidmore, which improved to 3-13 overall, 1-8 in Liberty League play.
Bard (5-11, 0-9) got a career-high 20 points from
Olivia Couture, who made six three-pointers. She added four rebounds, a steal and a block.
Christina Kiser added 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals.
