Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rylander scores career-high 28 in loss at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 85-57, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

For the second straight season, Bard's Jess Rylander played one of her best games up there. Last year in Rochester, she scored 21, which at the time was a career best for her. On Saturday, she led all scorers with 28, going 10-for-14 from the field, including 7-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc. The seven threes matches the Bard record for three-pointers made in a game. Kalliopi Papadaki made seven threes against St. Joseph's on Feb. 1, 2007.

Her effort couldn't change the outcome of the game, however, because RIT ran out to a 30-13 lead after one quarter. The Tigers shot 56 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes and made four three-pointers. They cooled off a bit in the second quarter but still led, 49-22, at halftime. The second half was played evenly, RIT outscoring Bard by one point.

Ten players scored for the hosts, led by Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA), who produced 21 points and 14 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Rylander added five rebounds and two assists to her 28 points; Christina Kiser added 12 points, two rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block.

The Raptors are in the midst of a seven-game road trip. They next play at RPI on Tuesday. You can follow that game right here beginning at 5:30 p.m.
