Schenectady, N.Y. - Playing in their first road conference game of the season, the Bard College men's basketball team dropped a 77-38 decision to Union College (N.Y.) Friday evening.
The Raptors (0-12, 0-6 LL) got out to an early lead, as sophomore forward
Stamatis Koulouris hit back-to-back three pointers to give Bard a quick 6-2 edge, but the Dutchmen (8-4, 5-2 LL) responded with five straight points to take the lead. Following consecutive baskets by Koulouris and freshman guard
Andres Pacheco that put the Raptors back in front, Union went on a roll to take control of the game. Dutchmen guards Brian Noone (Stamford, Conn.) and Mike Manley (Pleasantville, N.Y.) hit back-to-back threes to put the home team in front, and Union turned that momentum into a 19-0 run to take a 16 point lead. Union then extended their lead late, taking a 30-13 advantage into the half.
Coming out of the break, freshman guard
Elliot Harris hit a pair of jumpers to cut into the Union lead, but the Dutchmen again proved to be too much. Union's Jack Williams (Wilton, Conn.) followed up Harris' basket with 4 unanswered points to put the home team ahead 40-20 midway through the half, and Union closed the game out with a 21-6 run to pick up the conference victory.
Koulouris led all scorers on the night with 13 points in addition to six rebounds, and freshman guard
Kevin Le came up just short of a double-double, posting 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Raptors are right back in action Saturday, Jan. 18, when they continue their road trip at RIT. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
