NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Despite a late rally, the Bard College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Mount St. Mary College (N.Y.) Wednesday evening.
Junior goalkeeper
Logan Leppo stood tall early, keeping the Knights (2-1) off the board as the teams played to a scoreless first half.
However, the home team put the first goal of the game on the board in the 58th minute. A loose ball in front of the net found its way to Joey Dolan (New Paltz, NY), who slid the ball past Leppo into the bottom right corner of the net to put the Knights up 1-0, with Joseph Bacalhau (Woodbridge, NJ) picking up the assist.
Nine minutes later, Mount St. Mary extended its lead to two as Dolan picked up his second goal on a strike into the upper left corner, with Bacalhau again assisting on the goal.
Leppo kept the Knights off the board the rest of the way, and the Raptors (0-2) picked up a goal in the 89th minute as sophomore midfielder
Denton Lane scored his first goal of the season following a centering pass from freshman midfielder
Dylan Jung. The goal cut the lead to one, but Bard ran out of time in their comeback attempt, falling by a final of 2-1.
The Raptors' next match is a home meeting with SUNY Canton, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3:00 p.m.
