ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Coming off a strong win against Lehman College Wednesday night, the Bard College women's volleyball team fell short in a pair of matches against Farmingdale State College and Mitchell College Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors (3-4) started off the day with Farmingdale State (5-4). Following a 25-19 win by the Rams in the first set, the home team played a strong second set but were still unable to break through, falling by a score of 26-24. Bard picked up a 25-21 win in the third set to keep the match going, but ultimately dropped the fourth set by a 25-17 score.
Senior
Maracela Talamantes led the team with nine kills, while also picking up nine digs and two blocks. Sophomore
Morenike Fabiyi had seven kills, while juniors
Stella Gatti and
Mikala L'Hote added six kills apiece. Gatti also had 11 digs while L'Hote picked up three service aces. Senior
Jewel Smith had a team-best 25 assists, and senior
Emily Anastasi led the way for the home team with 22 digs in match one.
The Raptors then took on Mitchell College in the final matchup of the day. The Mariners (4-3) won the matchup in straight sets, coming away with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-23 victory.
In match two, L'Hote led the team with 13 kills, and Talamantes added four kills and five digs. Smith picked up a season-high 25 assists and 10 digs while Anastasi had a season-best performance with 34 digs during the match.
The Raptors look to get back in the win column Wednesday, Sept. 18, when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on The Sage Colleges, with match time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
