ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 16-5, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
When
Melissa Rosenthal scored just under four minutes into the game, Bard went up 1-0, the Raptors' first lead in a Liberty League game since last year's game against RIT. But the Tigers responded with a pair of goals less than 30 seconds apart to take their first lead, and they didn't relinquish it. It was 6-1 through 20 minutes, and 10-2 at halftime.
RIT (5-7, 3-4 Liberty League) scored the first five goals of the second half, and Bard (4-6, 0-5) scored three of the last four goals of the game.
The hosts got three goals and two assists from Steph Darrell (East Northport, NY), and four goals from Meghan Donahue (Baldwinsville, NY).
Bard got two goals from
Caleigh DeCaprio, and a goal apiece from
Gillian Adkins,
Casey Witte and Rosenthal.
Rachael Yoder led the Raptors with four draw controls, Adkins collected three ground balls, and
Izabel Kickner made 10 saves. When
Nicole Ellin assisted on Adkins' goal, it was the 100th point of her career.
