CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team got off a great start, but St. Lawrence recovered and went on to defeat the Raptors, 16-6, in a Liberty League game on Satuday.
The Raptors won the first three draws and had leads of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2. But the host Saints scored six goals over the next four minutes to take charge. It was 11-4 at halftime.
Sophomore Kylie Murphy (New Canaan, CT) led St. Lawrence with six goals, three coming during that crucial stretch in the first half. Alexandra LaMotte (Barrington, RI) added five goals. Olga Lukas (Albany, NY) made 14 saves.
Gillian Adkins scored twice for Bard, and the Raptors got single goals from
Melissa Rosenthal,
Caleigh DeCaprio,
Dylan McDonald and
Nicole Ellin. Rosenthal and
Rachael Yoder collected four draw controls apiece, and Ellin caused a pair of turnovers. Isabel Kickner made four saves in the first half, and
Roxanne Rouskas, making her first collegiate appearance, made six saves in the second half.
