ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to the University of Rochester, 16-6, in a Liberty League game on Friday.
Ten minutes into the game, Rochester held a slim 2-1 lead, but the Yellowjackets scored five of the last six goals of the first half to take a 7-2 lead into the break. A key to Rochester's success in the first half was the play of goalie Carly Bendavid (Bridgewater, NJ), who made five saves on seven shots on goal. Bard had a decided advantage in draw controls in the first half (7-3), but Bendavid kept turning the Raptors away.
Rochester scored the first three goals of the second half to put the game out of reach. Jamison Seabury (Manlius, NY) finished with four goals and an assist, and Mary Panepinto (Walworth, NY) added three goals and two assists. The Yellowjackets are 4-5 overall, 2-3 in Liberty League play.
Bard (4-5, 0-4) got two goals apiece from
Casey Witte and
Melissa Rosenthal, and Rosenthal added two assists. Single goals came from
Dylan McDonald and
Rachael Yoder. Yoder added eight draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Isabel Kickner finished with eight saves.
