ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team led early, but 24th-ranked Skidmore roared back and rolled to a 21-8 victory in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
Cas Szwajkowski (Rye, NY), the Liberty League's leading scorer, gave the Thoroughbreds a 1-0 lead in the first minute, but Bard came right back with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead.
Caleigh DeCaprio tied it on an assist from
Emma Heffron, and 59 seconds later,
Casey Witte gave Bard the lead off an assist from
Dylan McDonald.
Skidmore quickly tied it at 2-2, only to have Bard take the lead 21 seconds later,
Dylan McDonald cashing in off a pass from DeCaprio to make it 3-2. Five minutes hadn't even elapsed by that point.
The Thoroughbreds then took charge, scoring six goals in the next nine minutes to make it 9-3. It was 16-6 at halftime, then Skidmore outscored Bard 5-2 in the second half.
Szwajkowski finished with five goals, while Anna Boogaerts (Providence, RI) added four goals and an assist for Skidmore, which is 6-3 overall, 3-1 in Liberty League play.
DeCaprio finished with four goals and an assist, including her 100th career point. Witte added three goals, McDonald had a goal and an assist, and Heffron finished with two assists. DeCaprio and Heffron each collected six ground balls, and
Jade Waring caused a pair of turnovers.
Izabel Kickner made 16 saves.
