ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team continued its dominating start to the 2019 season Wednesday, as the Raptors rolled past Plattsburgh State, 19-6, in a non-conference matchup.
With the win, the Raptors moved to 3-1 overall and have outscored their opponents, 62-9, during the victories. Meanwhile, the Cardinals of Plattsburgh dropped to 1-3 on the year.
Dylan McDonald opened the scoring for Bard just two and half minutes into the contest. From there, the hosts poured it on by scoring the next nine goals to hand the Raptors a 10-0 advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the first half.Â
A Plattsburgh goal stopped the Bard scoring streak at 10, but the Raptors tallied four more first-half goals to head into the halftime break with a 14-1 lead.
On the night, Bard easily won the turnover and ground ball battles. The hosts also edged the Cardinals in draw controls, 15-12.Â
Bard's win was powered by
Melissa Rosenthal, who finished with eight points (6g, 2a), seven draw controls and two ground balls.
Caleigh DeCaprio collected seven points (4g, 3a), five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
As for the rest of the Raptors:
Casey Witte and McDonald each added three goals apiece, while
Nicole Ellin,
Emma Heffron and
Gillian Adkins each tallied one goal.
For Plattsburgh, Frankie Porcaro (Bellport, NY) finished with four goals and an assist.
