Raptors split at season-opening Vassar Round Robin

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's squash team split a pair of matches at the season-opening Vassar Round Robin on Saturday, losing to Northeastern and defeating Bucknell.

The Raptors lost to Northeastern, 6-3, before defeating Bucknell, 6-3, later in the afternoon.

In the 6-3 loss to Northeastern, Bard's winners were Devon Wall at No. 5, John Michael Richards at No. 8, and Layl Andary at No. 9. Wall and Richards each won, 3-1, and Andary swept his opponent, 3-0.

The Bucknell final score didn't really tell the story, because the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 each went five games. Theo Webb held off Bucknell's Riggs Johnson, 11-4, 12-10, 6-11, 7-11 and 11-9. Ak was down and rallied to win, beating Henry Charman 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 15-13 and 11-7.  Lukas Roscoe, Alex Luscher and Richards each swept their opponents, and Andary took a default to account for the rest of Bard's scoring.

The Raptors host the Bard Round Robin next weekend.
