Men's soccer defeated by Hobart

GENEVA, N.Y. - In their final road match of the year, the Bard College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Hobart College Saturday afternoon.

The Statesmen (12-4-1, 5-2-1 LL) got on the board early, as Nate Cary (Milton, VT.) picked up a goal in the 11th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Raptors (1-13-2, 0-8 LL) were able to get shots away, but were unable to beat Statesmen goalkeeper Brian Salazar (Revere, Mass.), who picked up the victory for Hobart. The home team then added to their lead late in the first half, as Jack Bizub (North Caldwell, N.J.) put in a loose ball on the goal line to extend the lead to two, with Jack Fell (Concord, Mass.) providing the assist.

The home team struck quickly coming out of the intermission, when in the 50th minute Kyle Patrick (Ipswich, Mass.) took a shot that deflected off a Bard defender and into the net to put Hobart up 3-0. The Statesmen added a late goal when Amad Miller (Cleveland, Ohio) took a shot from 15 yards out that beat junior goalkeeper Logan Leppo, who made eight saves on the day, to the right corner. The 85th minute goal was the final scoring in a 4-0 victory for Hobart.

The Raptors finish their 2019 season on senior day, Saturday, Nov. 2. Bard will face off against Skidmore College, with game time scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
