ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to St. Lawrence University, 83-46, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
St. Lawrence improved to 7-11 overall, 4-7 in the Liberty League. Bard fell to 5-12, 0-11.
The Saints used their superior size to jump out to a big lead, outscoring Bard 25-12 in the first quarter, with most of those points coming in the paint. St. Lawrence went 20-for-36 in the first half (55%) and held a 48-24 lead at the break.
In the end, St. Lawrence outrebounded Bard 48-31 and scored 50 points in the paint. Katie Frederick (Sunapee, NH) led the visitors with 20 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks. Ava McCann (Binghamton, NY) scored 18 points off the bench.
Bard got 18 points from
Christina Kiser, 14 points and five rebounds from
Jess Rylander, and six points apiece from
Katie Esposito and
Caleigh DeCaprio. For the second game in a row,
Olivia Couture led Bard in rebounds, as she finished with six.
