NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - For the second straight contest, the Bard College men's soccer team played to a 1-0 result.
Unfortunately for the Raptors, it was also the second straight game to end in defeat, this time coming in overtime against Lehman College. With the loss, Bard dropped to 2-2 overall, while the Lightning of Lehman improved to 3-1.
After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, the non-conference matchup proceeded to sudden-death overtime. It didn't take long for the game to be decided, as the Lightning were able to score just three minutes into extra-time, as Maissa Dieye (New York, NY) headed in a goal off a Jason Tinoco (Bronx, NY) corner kick.
Despite the goal,
Logan Leppo played a magnificent game for Bard, finishing with a career-high 11 saves.
As for the Bard offense, the team managed six shots (five on goal) for the day. The Raptors' best scoring chance came in the 36th minute, when
Isaac Yelchin had two shots saved by Lehman's keeper, Chris Mulholland (Mahopac, NY), over a 17-second span.
The Lightning of Lehman meanwhile, finished with 14 shots (12 on goal) and won the corner count 5-1. Mullholland collected five saves in the win.
