BRONX, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team defeated Lehman College, 3-1, in a non-league game on Wednesday night.
It took an overall team effort and contributions from everyone to get it done.
Set scores for Bard were 25-20, 22-25, 25-14 and 26-24.
The Raptors (2-3) rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the first set and took charge, switching the momentum and going up, 18-12. They took the first set 25-20.
Bard was down 17-10 in the second set, closed the gap to 23-22, but the Lightning pulled it out, 25-22. And in the third set, Bard cruised, 25-14.
It looked like the fourth set was going to be just as smooth, but Lehman, down 24-17, rallied to tie it, then lost it with consecutive hitting errors.
Caitlin Vernon (Ozone Park, NY) had seven kills for Lehman (2-2). Christina Lopez (New York, NY) had two kills and 15 digs.
Bard got nine kills, two aces and three digs from
Mikala L'Hote; six kills, six aces and 15 digs from
Storm Bookhard; 24 assists and seven digs from
Jewel Smith; six kills and eight digs from
Maracela Talamantes; and 23 digs from
Emily Anastasi.
