ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to Hobart College, 3-0, Saturday in a Liberty League matchup.
With the loss, the Raptors fell to 3-7-1 overall and 0-3 in the Liberty League. Meanwhile, the Statesmen of Hobart improved to 3-4-2 and 2-0-1 with the win.
Hobart struck first on the day, following a goal from Tristan Cornell Roberts (Ithaca, NY) in the eighth minute. The strike was set up by a long cross in from Derrick Acheampong (Needham, MA), who found Roberts streaking toward the goal. Roberts collected the pass in stride, running down the right side of the field and beat Bard's keeper into the top right corner.
Things remained at 1-0 until the 33rd minute, when Hobart seized firm control of the game. Alex Weisbein (Shaker Heights, OH) slotted in a shot from the top of the box to double Hobart's lead, before Mike Goulart (Brookfield, CT) converted a penalty just 20 seconds later to give the Statesmen a 3-0 advantage.
Over the rest of the contest, Bard's defense held off Hobart to preserve the scoreline. The Raptors, especially in the second half, pushed forward offensively trying to get on the board, but Hobart limited their chances all game, as it finished 3-0.
The Statesmen outshot Bard, 24-5, in the win.
Logan Leppo finished with eight saves for the Raptors, while Alec Kaminer (Paramus, NJ) collected one save for Hobart.
Up next for Bard is another home Liberty League game, as the Raptors take on the Bombers of Ithaca College on October 6th at 2 p.m. You can follow that game right here.Â
