ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team defeated Sage College, 8-1, in a non-league match on Thursday, and the Raptors are off their best start since the 2011 season.
Bard won two of the three doubles matches, and swept the six singles matches to improve to 4-0. Sophomore
Jamie-Rose Graham pulled out a long match at No. 4 singles, edging Sage's Julia Geisel (Clifton Park, NY) 6-3, 5-7 and 15-13 in a super tiebreaker.
Bard sophomore
Katie Esposito is 4-0 at No. 1 singles so far, and has yielded just five total games.
The unbeaten start will be put to the test over the next few days. Bard begins Liberty League play on Friday at Vassar, then hosts Skidmore on Sunday. Skidmore won the league tournament last year, and Vassar was the runner-up.
