ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to Western New England College, 2-0, in its final non-league game of the 2018 season on Tuesday night.
The Golden Bears (5-1-1) dominated throughout, but Bard's defensive posture proved frustrating. Western New England outshot Bard 15-3 in the first half, but it was scoreless at the break.
The guests broke through early in the second half. A direct kick from just outside the box was blocked and bounded over to the other corner of the box. Charlie Argyle (Marshfield, MA)Â turned and struck a high-bouncing volley hard to the far post, and it was 1-0 in the 49th minute.
In the 76th minute, Connor Prindle (Shelton, CT) made it 2-0 from close range off a pass from Josh Labonte (Ludlow, MA).
Bard keeper
Logan Leppo was able to keep the deficit right there, and although the Raptors (3-4-1) tried pushing forward, they were never really able to find any space out there. The Golden Bears outshot Bard 29-9, and Leppo finished with a career-high 17 saves.
Only Liberty League games remain for Bard, beginning with its conference opener at RPI on Saturday afternoon.
