MAHWAH, N.J. - The Bard College women's volleyball team lost twice on Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Ramapo College.
In the morning, Bard was swept by Mount Aloysius, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-18.
The Mounties (5-6) hit .318 in the match, including .500 in the final set.
It was 15-15 in the first set, but the Mounties scored 10 of the final 12 points. In the second set, Bard got down, 12-4, and was never able to recover. The Raptors got up 13-9 in the final set, but Mount Aloysius tied it at 17-17 before taking charge with seven straight points.
Freshman Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA) led the Mounties with seven kills and hit .429.
Bard got six kills apiece from
Victoria Chou and
Maracela Talamantes. Chou also had 10 assists, and
Emily Anastasi led the team with a dozen digs.
In the second match of the day, Bard won the first set against Penn State-Harrisburg, but lost, 3-1. Set scores for Harrisburg were 23-25, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-20.
Bard pulled out the first set on the strength of 12 kills. But the Raptors only produced 14 combined over the next three sets.
Brittany Wolf (Stewartstown, PA) led the winners with 14 kills and hit .313. The Nittany Lions are 6-6.
Bard (3-7) got 10 kills from Talamantes and eight from Chou.
Jewel Smith had 12 assists and 11 digs;
Emily Anastasi led the team with 15 digs.
