NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team snapped a three-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over New Paltz in a non-league game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Raptors (2-2-1) carried play throughout, and were dominating possession in the first half when they finally broke through in the 42nd minute. Bard keeper
Abigail Stanley charged a ball rolling toward the penalty area and boomed a 40-yard kick that was misjudged by a New Paltz defender, and the resulting errant header sent senior
Caroline Gluck away on a breakaway. Gluck buried it. Bard outshot New Paltz, 7-1, in the first half.
The Hawks (0-5) pressed forward for much of the second half but could not get through Bard's back line. Stanley was called on to make just one save for Bard.
Megan Tornatore (Glen Head, NY) made four saves for New Paltz.
The Raptors will come home for another non-league game on Saturday, this one against Wilkes, in the first women's soccer meeting between the schools. You can follow it live right here beginning at 3 p.m.
