Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Raptors beaten by Vassar on Senior Day

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Vassar College Wednesday night, 21-9, in its final home game of the 2018 season.

Before the contest, the Raptors took a moment to honor the trio of Kaylynn Tran, Hannah Baird and Molly Woolery for Senior Day.

The three have played a major part in the growth of the women's lacrosse team over the past four years and will certainly be missed on and off the field.

After a quick ceremony and pictures with the trio were taken, the Raptors had to quickly shift into game mode.

Vassar opened the contest with the first goal of the night, before Bard answered on a goal from Casey Witte just about three minutes in.

From there, the Brewers of Vassar (5-9 overall, 4-5 Liberty League) started to dominate. They reeled off five straight goals on the Raptors, before back-to-back goals from Caleigh DeCaprio cut the Bard deficit to 6-3 midway through the first half.

However, Vassar wouldn't be denied on the night. The guests continued their offensive pressure, leading to an 11-5 halftime advantage. In the second frame, they came out and scored five of the first six goals of the half, en route to the 21-9 win.

The Raptors (3-10, 0-9) were outshot 38-15 overall and 30-13 on goal. Vassar also won the ground ball, draw control and turnover battles.

DeCaprio led Bard with four goals and an assist in the effort. Witte added three goals and Tran finished with nine saves.

Dylan McDonald finished with two goals, two assists and six draw controls, while Melissa Rosenthal collected five ground balls and five draw controls for the hosts.

As for Vassar, Tessa Waters (Skokie, IL) led the way with five goals on the night, as she was one of 11 Brewers with a goal in the winning effort.

Up next for Bard is its final game of the season, as the team travels to Union College on April 27th. That game is set to start at 4 p.m. and you can follow it here.
