Raptors soar past Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, VT - The Bard College women's lacrosse team cruised to an easy non-conference win Tuesday night, topping Southern Vermont College, 15-2. 

With the win, the Raptors improved to 3-6 overall, while the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont fell to 1-5.

Bard jumped out to an early lead on the night and never looked back.

Dylan McDonald scored less than thirty seconds into the contest, before Caleigh DeCaprio added a goal a minute later. The Raptors tallied three more goals over a fifty second span to extend their lead to 5-0 less than five minutes into the game. 

At halftime, the lead was 9-0, as Bard put away the first 11 goals on the night.

DeCaprio (3g, 4a), McDonald (3g, 1a) and Melissa Rosenthal (5g, 1a) powered the Raptors in the win. Rosenthal also recorded five ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers in the effort.

Marion Adams scored twice for Bard, while Casey Witte and Nicole Ellin each grabbed a goal.

Kaylynn Tran finished with three saves and the win over her 30 minutes of action, while Kelsey Carrera (Queensbury, NY) tallied eight saves and the loss for Southern Vermont.
