Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Raptors score most points in a decade, roll past Pratt Institute

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team finished with its highest point total in a decade Saturday afternoon, as the team cruised by Pratt Institute, 104-50.

The 104 points were the most scored by the Raptors since the 2007-08 season, during an overtime loss to Penn State Brandywine, 115-111.

Alijah Rue (19), David Runcie (17), Justyn Rogers (15), Stamatis Koulouris (15), Avgoustinos Sofroniou (12) and Zack Jacobs (10) combined for 88 of the 104 points, as the Raptors improved to 5-3 on the year.

From the opening tip, Bard was in control. The hosts scored the first 14 points and led 18-2 just five minutes into the contest. At the 10 minute mark, the lead had erupted to 31-5, as Bard's defense caused Pratt to shoot just 27 percent and turn the ball over 17 times in the game.

While the defense played great in win, the Raptors' phenomenal offensive output led the way in the win. Bard shot 45 percent from the field in the opening half and 61 percent in the second, to finish the afternoon 52 percent from the field. Bard finished with 49 points in the opening half and 55 in the second.

The Raptors easily won every hustle category on the day, as they outscored Pratt in the paint, 54-12, and on second chance opportunities, 22-1. Bard also finished with 27 points off Pratt turnovers.

The final pillar of the Bard's dominating win came from the glass, as the hosts finished with 61 rebounds (22 offensive). The Cannoneers of Pratt (5-4) meanwhile, collected just 24 rebounds in the effort.

Individually, it was a balanced outing for Bard, as every available player played at least 10 minutes and scored in the winning effort. In addition to his 17 points, Runcie collected 15 rebounds (six offensive) and had four steals in the win.

For Pratt, Griffin Levine (Dallas, TX) finished with a game-high 24 points. Bubby Vernon (Boulder, CO) added 13 points in the effort.

Up next for the Raptors is a road game at John Jay College on December 11th at 8 p.m. You can follow that game here.
