ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was swept by Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-0, in a Liberty League match on Saturday afternoon.
It was the final conference match of the season for Bard, which is 6-19 overall, 0-7 in Liberty League play.
RIT improved to 23-3 and 6-1 in conference matches by hitting .407, including .542 in the first set. The Tigers scored the first 13 points of the day and won the first set, 25-7.
Bard battled in the second set, cutting an 11-5 deficit to 13-8, but the Tigers got it together and took the second set, 25-11.
The Raptors briefly had the lead in the third set and fought back from a big deficit to trail, 17-16, but RIT scored eight straight points to conclude the set and the match, 25-16.
Freshman Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY) led RIT with 17 kills and hit .625.
Bard got seven kills from freshman
Storm Bookhard, six assists from
Jewel Smith, and 12 digs from
Emily Anastasi.
All that remains in the 2018 season in the Bard Quad, which will be played on Friday and Saturday. Attending will be Maritime, John Jay and Penn State-Abington.
