McDonald scores again as Raptors lose a close one at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Bard College senior Dylan McDonald has produced a goal or an assist, and sometimes both, in eight of the Raptors' 15 games this season. To say she's been consistent is not giving her enough credit.

She scored again on Saturday to become the first player in the program's history to score four Liberty League goals in one season. But Rochester Institute of Technology scored twice in the first nine minutes of the game, and the Tigers held off the Raptors, 2-1.

Goals by Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY) and Maggie Hoey (Charlotte, NC) in the fourth and ninth minutes, respectively, ruined what was an overall effective first half for Bard. The Raptors outshot the hosts, 6-4, and McDonald's eighth goal of the season cut the deficit in half in the 20th minute. Hattie Wilder-Karlstrom hit the post with a shot about a minute later.

RIT righted itself and outshot Bard, 10-2, in the second half. The Raptors never found the equalizer.

Abigail Stanley made three saves for Bard, which is 4-10-1 overall, and 0-8-0 in the Liberty League. RIT is 8-4-2, 3-2-2.

Perhaps the Raptors can take solace in knowing that McDonald is one of just two players to have scored against nationally-ranked William Smith in conference play this season, and that in games between conference opponents, she's in the top five in scoring.

McDonald and five other seniors will play their last game of the 2018 season on Saturday, Oct. 27, when Skidmore visits Annandale. If history is any guide, McDonald will find a way, with the help of her teammates, to get look at goal.
