ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-0, Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
Before the contest began, the Raptors took time to honor their three graduating seniors:
Antonio Scanni,
Isaac Yelchin and
Emlyn Ellerby. Memories and stories were shared pregame to commemorate the past four years, as the trio took photos with friends and family to remember the day.
After the pregame celebration, a Liberty League contest still had to be played. Unfortunately for Bard, RIT did not let the Raptors finish Senior Day on a high note.
The Tigers came out firing, as Simon Garno (Hilton, NY) smashed one past
Logan Leppo in the third minute, before Brett Kaemmerlen (Webster, NY) headed in a cross two minutes later.Â
In the 10th minute, Garno again found the back of the net with a shot from nearly 40 yards out, while a goal from Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY) in the 17th minute pushed the Tigers' lead to 4-0.
RIT outshot Bard 14-0 in the opening half and 26-2 for the game. RIT added one final goal in the 88th minute to secure the win, 5-0.
Leppo collected 11 saves for Bard in the effort.
Up next for the Raptors is a road matchup with the Dutchmen of Union College on October 23rd. That game is set to being at 7 p.m. and you can follow it here.Â
